Mountain Biking

When does Vail open for mountain biking?

Mountain biking season comes to Vail roughly mid April to late October. However, this season is largely weather dependent as it all has to do with trail conditions. Snow needs to melt off and mud needs to dry up before mountain bikes can take to the trail.

Though many trails open as of mid April, some trails on the north side of I-70 are closed until June 15. Be sure to check the status of any trails you’d like to bike before you arrive.

Bike Haul

Utilize the bike haul so the gondola does the real heavy lifting. This is also a great option for those newer to mountain biking. Once you’ve ridden the gondola to the top, you can ride at high speed down the many trails on the mountainside. The Vail Bike Haul operates April through September 7 daily out of Eagle Bahn Gondola and Gondola 1.

Hours of Operation: 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Ticket Prices: Day passes start at $33. Purchase a weeklong pass for $120. Summer season passes are also available for $309.
